Abel is a mild-mannered 30-something tour guide at a city aquarium. He is still mourning the death of his wife in a car accident, but is able to confide in his best friend, the far from mild-mannered Clémence. Abel is also, as usual, worried about his wayward mother, Sylvie, a drama teacher in a prison. She has announced her intention of marrying Michel, one of the inmates, and opening a flower shop with him on his release. This news horrifies Abel, who has witnessed his mother’s reckless and disastrous infatuations before. Will this one be any different? Although Michel seems to be a decent man, Abel feels he has reason to suspect him of nefarious motives. Once Michel is out of prison Abel enlists Clémence’s help to spy on him. So begins a manic roller coaster ride, the outcome of which is never certain. An enjoyable romp, made even more compelling by the great chemistry between Louis Garrel and Noémie Merlant.
