Firstly, thank you to everyone who completed the recent survey. A raw data report can be found here for those who wish to peruse the facts and figures.
There were 141 responses and the unsurprising headline is that the majority would prefer to remain uphill, though 84 members say they are willing to venture further.
The Committee has concluded that The Collection where we held the summer season is not suitable for our needs, with issues relating to location, screening quality and size of the arena.
With The Venue continuing to be unavailable for the foreseeable future, (until 2024 at least), we have decided to continue experimenting with alternative screening locations using the survey results to assist with decision making.
The next venue to explore will be The Terry O’Toole Theatre in North Hykeham.
This location is the least favoured by the survey responders, but everything else does fit our needs, specifically ample free parking, hire costs, size of arena and screen/sound.
We have provisionally booked two blocks of screenings, four in October/November and four in February/March, which would form an eight-film season commencing on 14 October 2022.
The provisional screening dates for this autumn are:
Friday 14 October 2022
Friday 28 October 2022
Friday 11 November 2022
Friday 25 November 2022
Time is short and we will need to re-launch the membership scheme, so please keep an eye out for further communications as we will need to act quickly in organising this new season. The selection of the first four films is already underway and the pricing structure will be announced as soon as possible, along with re-joining instructions.
We are aiming to recruit at least 100 members and, obviously, the more members we have the lower the membership fee required to cover our costs.
We would stress that this season at the Terry O’Toole will be an experiment, not the decided permanent base for Lincoln Film Society.
