Three interlocking fairytales for adults practically leap at us from the screen, a riot of ravishing beauty and gothic horror. In one, a childless queen must eat the heart of a sea serpent in order to conceive. Another tale shows a king with a pet flea, which grows to an enormous size, with far reaching consequences. In a third a lustful king fantasises over a mysterious woman with an exquisite singing voice, All the principal characters in this stunningly original film are in for their fair share of shocks – as is the audience!
