In an isolated Icelandic valley two sheep farms exist side by side. They are owned by two feuding, curmudgeonly brothers who, for reasons not entirely clear, haven’t spoken to each other for 40 years. Nothing is a matter of greater pride to them than their flocks; so when disaster, in the shape of the sheep disease scrapie, threatens the local economy and the whole way of life of the community, the brothers must consider co-operating! This eccentric, chilly and darkly comic film succeeds in involving the viewer in these strange lives, and its conclusion comes with a powerful emotional charge.
